Varieties of red and white Grenache

CICYTEX has two experimental vineyards with plant material of the red Grenache and the white Grenache varieties spread across 1.2 ha and 0.9 ha, respectively, conducted via trellising training systems with double cordon de Royat and plantation distribution of 3 m x 1.4 m. This plot is used in several research projects associated with vineyard irrigation.

Vine clone collection

CICYTEX has a field of clones from autochthonous grapevine varieties over 0.5 has, i.e. Pardina, Cayetana Blanca, Montúa, Alarije, Borba, Cigüente and Perruno.

Collection of fungal isolates. Fungal collection

CICYTEX has a collection of fungal isolates from Extremadura vineyards of the Botryosphaeriaceae, Dyatripaceae families and the Ilyonectria genus and similar that cause black foot disease; Phaeoacremonium and the species Phaeomoniella chlamydospora (causing esca and Petri disease) and some basidiomycetes of the Fomitiporia sp type.

The isolates have been previously identified through molecular techniques and characterised by their virulence and pathogenicity. These fungi are used to offer trial services on fungal effects and control of diseases with biological products and agents (biocontrol).
