Plant material and collections
Isolated collection of plant pathogenic fungi. CICYTEX’S collection of fungi
We have an isolated collection of Phytophthora cinnamomi (agent responsible for the chestnut ink disease and the root rot of holm oaks and cork oaks) deriving from ill trees from Extremadura. A part of these isolated collection is molecularly characterised based on their morphology and pathogenicity.
Additionally, there is an isolated collection of Cryphonectria parasitica (agent responsible for the chestnut blight disease) deriving from ill trees from various areas in Extremadura, mainly from the Villuercas region. We have established the VCGs for the majority of them.
All these isolated fungi are kept in the Collection of Fungi Isolations and Oomycete of CICYTEX (FUNGI COLLECTION).
